OTRIZOL – DF

otrOTRIZOL – DF  is associated with anti-histamine medicines which appear to be the most widely applied group of medications.

Medicinal product is used in case of acute respiratory diseases with rhinitis (sneezing), sinusitis as well as medium otitis (with combined therapy for decreasing of nasopharynx edema), manufactured in convenient product form of drops or spray for adults and children.

Alpha-adrenegric from imidazolines. In small concentrations affects α2-adrenoreceptives, in large doses affect α1- adrenoreceptives.

– Medicine takes effect in 5-10 mins after applying.

– Medication effect stays for 6-8 hours.

– Spasms of blood vessels is retained over 8-12 hours.

Indications

– acute respiratory diseases with rhinitis (sneezing)

– vasomotor rhinitis

– acute allergic rhinitis (pollen allergy)

– sinusitis

– medium otitis (with combined therapy for decreasing of nasopharynx edema)

Dosage and Administration

Intranasal method.

0,05% nasal drops for children 2 to 6 years: 1 drop per each nasal passage 1 – 2 times a day.

0,1% nasal drops for adults and children 6+ years: 1-2 drops per each nasal passage 1 – 2 times a day.

Should not be applied more than 3 times a day.

Treatment course is limited by 5 – 7 days.

Lateral effects

Often use:

– often or extended applying may cause irritation or dry mucosa, nasal mucosa atrophy, heat, sneezing, addiction, hypersecretion, chronical rhinitis

Rare use:

– heart beat disorder, increase in arterial tension

– nausea, vomiting

– allergy (angioedema, urticaria fever, pruritus)

– depression (during extended applying of large doses)

– sight disorder

Very rare use:

– activation

– headache

– tiredness, lethargy, dormancy

– insomnia

– hallucinations and spasms (especially in children)

Contra-indications

– heightened sensitivity to product components

– atrophic rhinitis

– close-angle glaucoma

– surgeries on brain tunic (in history)

– hyperthyrea

– diabetes

– apparent atherosclerosis

– arterial hypertension

– polycardia

– serious eye diseases

– pheochromocytoma

– porphyria

– prostatic hyperplasia

– simultaneous taking of inhibitors of monoaminooxidase and period of 10 days after

– children up to 2 years (for Otrizol-DF 0,05 %)

– children up to 6 years (for Otrizol -DF 0,1 %)

Medicine correlation

Simultaneous taking with inhibitors of monoaminooxidase and period of 14 days after, as well as with tricylics may lead to arterial tension.

Special directions

Self-affirmed extending of medicine applying after 5-7 days is not advised.

In case of ischemic heart disease (IHD) apply with caution.

Children

Apply to children only by doctor’s discretion.

Pregnancy and lactation

Not recommended due to early studies. Applying of medicine during pregnancy or lactation is justified only in case if benefiting treatment of mother will outbalance potential harm for child or fetus.
